Hyalgan and Your Arthritis
You may have seen our new TV commercial for the treatment of arthritis of the knee with Hyalgan. Hyalgan is a natural substance, and is also marketed as Supartz and other viscosupplementation brands. I have found Hyalgan and Supartz to be very efficacious when given 3-5 times in weekly injections. Although it doesn't cure arthritis, it may give substantial pain relief to delay the need for a knee replacement. The injections are not very painful as I do them below the kneecap which is relatively numb in many patients. We also freeze the area as well.
I have done over 400 injections and I am very happy for my patients that this conservative care has provided so much relief.
